Who did what, in an order that cannot be quietly edited.

Every consequential action is recorded: sign-ins, permission changes, connection edits, approvals, deletions, billing changes.
Hash-chained
Each entry is linked to the one before it. Removing or altering an entry breaks the chain, and the break is detectable — the platform verifies the chain on a schedule and reports if it does not hold.
That is the difference between a log and a record. A log tells you what somebody wrote down; a record tells you nobody has changed it since.
What is not in it
Arguments are summarised and redacted rather than stored raw. The audit trail says a customer record was updated; it does not keep a second copy of the customer's data, because a log that duplicates the data it protects has doubled the problem rather than solved it.
Retention
Set per workspace, in settings. Entries older than the window are removed.
